Joel is a founding partner of DeGrazia & Oefelein, LLC. He received his JD from Northern Illinois University in 1982. Joel previously worked for the Cook County State’s Attorney where he made his reputation known within the legal community. He is also an active member of Northwest Suburban Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association.
Attorney Joel DeGrazia believes that every case is really a matter of problem-solving. Joel draws on almost 40 years of experience in litigating and negotiating multifaceted family law cases to help clients achieve their objectives. He understands the financial and emotional difficulties his clients face. As such, he works personally with each one toward the most cost-effective and fair resolutions for his or her case.
Joel is experienced in all areas of matrimonial law, including child custody, division of property, maintenance and child support, tracing of financial claims, financial discovery, post-decree custody and support issues, and the drafting of pre- and post-nuptial agreements. He has litigated cases in Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane and DuPage counties.
Joel also handles criminal cases that range from traffic offenses to serious felonies. Joel brings his experience and perspective from the prosecutorial side to successfully defend thousands of criminal cases where he fought for his clients’ rights and helped them to receive the best outcome as possible.
Joel is a lifelong resident of the Chicagoland area, growing up in Chicago and raising his family in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.
Jessica Oefelein is a founding partner of DeGrazia & Oefelein, LLC. She received her JD from the University of Illinois- Chicago. Jessica is admitted to the Illinois State Bar, the Iowa State Bar the United States District Court, Northern and Western Districts and the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District. She is an active member of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association. She is a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and was a member of the Women’s Board for Alexian Brothers Children’s Hospital. She has successfully litigated cases in Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane and DuPage counties.
Attorney Jessica Oefelein’s practice is entirely litigation-based and she is experienced in all areas of civil and commercial litigation. Jessica represents a number of small to mid-sized businesses in the greater Chicago land area and handles their litigation needs as well as risk management. Jessica has successfully represented clients all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court.
In addition to civil litigation, Jessica represents clients in personal injury cases. She has successfully negotiated settlements in excess of $1,000,000.00 for her clients, as well as successfully taking jury trials to verdict, for matters ranging from auto accidents and slip and fall injuries, to premises liability cases. Jessica believes that preparedness, tenacity and quick thinking are the foundation for achieving the best possible outcome for her clients.
Jessica is also experienced in all areas of matrimonial law, division of property, maintenance and child support, tracing of financial claims, financial discovery, post-decree custody and support issues, and the drafting of pre- and post-nuptial agreements. Jessica is a lifelong resident of the Chicagoland area and she attended college and law school in Illinois. Although her cases have taken her all over the United States, Chicago will always be home.
